Our Family
Twyla – We got her from our local animal shelter. She was a stray and had been there for 8 months. She has a virus in her right eye and occasionally, when stressed, it flares up and causes her to close her eye until it subsides. If you look close, you can see the scar tissue tendrils in her eye where the blood vessels have reached out to the surface to supply blood during these flare-ups.
Monster – We found her and her Mom Momo alongside the highway where they had been abandoned. Momo was carrying her across an access road away from the highway when we found them. We weren’t able to find any of the other kittens in the litter. We call her Monster because she tries to be tough and grumpy, but she’s a softie.
Pippy – We rescued her from a neighborhood with a stray German Shepard that was let on the loose and known for killing cats. She is has only three legs (not from an attack, but a birth defect) She gets around just as much as our other cats, and of course, has her own distinct personality. Momo means ‘peach’ in Japanese.
Who’s next? We don’t know, but a special needs kitty could break our hearts anytime, so there is no telling what the future holds.
